Vadodara calm after religious tension

Army troops are being pulled out of parts of Vadodara amid signs of normality after a week of religious tension. There are no reports of major security incidents in the past 48 hours. People reappeared in the streets as curfew was lifted for four hours from 8 am in parts of the city. Until Friday it was eased only for women and children. A man said shops opened for the first time during relaxation of curfew.Trouble began at the start of the week after authorities removed a 200-year old dargah in the centre of a road saying it disrupted traffic movement. At least six people died in clashes and a man was burnt alive amid charges that police did little to maintain peace.
