Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna in name trouble

Clash of titles in Bollywood have become common these days. There seems to be a clamour with the same name titles for films. The latest director to be in trouble is none other than Karan Johar. His forthcoming film titled Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (KANK) has been registered. However, producer Biswaroop Roy Chaudhary has also registered the same title. The trouble began when the two producers registered the same movie title with two different authorities.
As a rule, all titles are registered with the trademark authorities. However, there is also a practice of getting movies registered with the Indian Motion Picture Association (IMPA). While Johar has registered this title with IMPA, Chaudhary has registered the same title under the Trademark Act of 1999. Johar’s movie is scheduled for release sometime in August this year. But Chaudhary insists that Karan will not be allowed to use the title as it suits his movie more.
Chaudhary also argued that Johar is a big producer and with a galaxy of stars as his cast, he can afford to change the movie title even at this stage. Only time will tell who will win the battle of the title
