Paris floored by Veer-Zaara

Yash Chopra’s magnum opus Veer-Zaara starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji was premiered on April 26 at the Grand Rex, one of the biggest theatres in Paris with a capacity of 2,800 seats. Veer-Zaara is one of the first Hindi films to be premiered at the prestigious theatre.
The event was very well-attended with the crème de la crème of Paris society and French media present for it. From India the stars of the film joined producer and director Yash Chopra to grace the occasion. This was the beginning of a special Bollywood week in which major films from India are being screened for the French viewers.
These films include Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein, Kabhi Kabhie, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dhoom, Swades, Lagaan, Bhoot, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Dil To Pagal Hai, Sholay and Black. Most of these films will then be released across France.
Yash Chopra said, “I am really happy with the overwhelming response we got from the delegates and the audience in France. People were screaming for Shah Rukh, Rani and Preity which shows they have a huge fan following even in Paris. I am happy that our film industry is making waves everywhere. I was surprised to see people enjoying the song and dance sequences in Hindi films. People were very emotional during a few scenes. What else can I ask for? This event once again reiterates the love for Indian films around the world. My film touched their heart, that itself is special to me.”
